Counselor Special Populations
This course will address gang members, drug and alcohol and how these two issues have played a negative role in the lives of our youth in many communities across America. Gang members are selling crack cocaine, marijuana, amphetamines, acids, ppc, and heroin in the many communities of color. So the focus is on developing counselors, with the skills to address both male and female gang members who use, abuse, and sell drugs in the communities across America.
Goals and Objectives

1. Develop a working knowledge of gang structure and activities in Colorado, and throughout America.

2. Develop a better understanding of how drugs and alcohol are used in the gang structure.

3. Develop a better understanding of multi-cultural issues within the gang structure.

4. Introduce gang member terminology in order to improve the counselor's ability to communicate with members, and increase awareness, of information being passed in front of your staff that could be used to stop fights, etc in your agencies.

5. Counselors will receive a book list that will enable the counselor to reference information needed to work with gang members male and female.
